As a Sophomore in 2014: Appeared in 20 games, posting 16  starts… notched one assist against Michigan (9/12)…scored the game-winning goal against #5 Indiana (10/19)…tabbed Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week (10/20) for his effort in wins against Lehigh and Indiana... helped the defense to shutouts in games against UMBC (9/5), VCU (10/8), #3 Penn State (10/12), Lehigh (10/15), Ohio State (11/1), Rutgers (11/9), and Michigan State (11/14).

As a Freshman in 2013: Led all defenders on the team with 12 shots and eight shots on goal… held Duke to only one goal in a 3-1 victory (9/6)… kept #2 North Carolina to a pair of goals in a 2-2 tie (9/13)… helped hold #4 Clemson to one goal in a 3-1 victory (9/21)… contributed to shutting out Pittsburgh in a 2-0 win (9/27)… contributed in a 1-1 tie at #2 Notre Dame (10/8)...competed in 12 games, earning starts in all 12.

Before Maryland: Enrolled a semester early at Maryland...went a combined 40-1-3 at Gahanna Lincoln in 2011 and 2012...also competed for coach Billy Thompson and the Crew Academy...a two-time state champion in baseball...ranked the #16 defender by TopDrawerSoccer.com...2008 State Cup Champions with Worthington United... was leading scorer with 28 goals...Crew Juniors were State Cup Runner-up in 2009...First Team All-District in 2011.

Personal: Alexander Crognale was born August 27, 1994 in Columbus, Ohio...son of Corey and Karen Crognale...father played baseball at Marietta...has two brothers, Ben and Eli...came to Maryland to for 'the great soccer program, very good athletics and just felt like the right fit'...enjoys longboarding and basketball in his spare time...major is finance.
