Dec. 11, 2012

NEW YORK - Maryland seniors Taylor Kemp and John Stertzer have been invited to participate in the 2013 adidas MLS Player Combine, announced Tuesday.

A committee of NCAA Division I coaches from every conference, as well as MLS representatives, selected the invitees, all of whom completed their college eligibility this season. Generation adidas signings, non-collegiate players, and additional college seniors will be announced in the coming weeks.

Stertzer was the backbone for the Terrapin midfield all season long, racking up seven goals and seven assists while mentoring a young Maryland squad in 2012. This season marked the second straight year the Oakton, Va., product tallied NSCAA Third Team All-America honors. The captain also registered All-ACC first team accolades as a senior.

Kemp battled injury in his final campaign in College Park in 2012, but still managed to receive second-team All-ACC honors for the second straight year. The senior captain ended the year with a career-high six assists despite missing nearly half the season. Kemp, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., was a four-year starter for the Terps.

A total of 54 college seniors were invited to the combine which will take place in Fort Lauderdale Jan. 11-15.
