Four Terps Named Academic All-ACC

GREENSBORO - The Maryland men's soccer team secured four student-athletes on the 2012 All-ACC Academic Men's Soccer team, the league announced Friday.

Seniors Taylor Kemp (Business), Patrick Mullins (American Studies) and Jake Pace (Kinesiology) and Junior Helge Leikvang (Business) were named to this year's list.

Kemp, who hails hales Highlands Ranch, Colo., played a crucial role in Maryland's nationally-ranked defense which allowed a mere 1.08 goals per game with eight shutouts. Kemp started in 12 games and was selected in the first round of the 2013 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by the DC United.

Mullins was superb for the Terps on offense, tallying 17 goals and ten assists. The New Orleans, La., native was a 2012 NSCAA First Team All-American and the MAC Herman Trophy winner.

Pace played a critical role coming off the bench for the Terps, playing in all 24 games. The Columbia, Md. product registered five goals and three assists on the season.

Leikvang helped Maryland nail down the opposition by racking up valuable minutes in the midfield in 2012. The junior from Oslo, Norway, played in 13 games and tallied two assists.

North Carolina's Scott Goodwin was named ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
