Former Terps Ready for FIFA Qualifier

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Former University of Maryland standouts Maurice Edu, Omar Gonzalez and Graham Zusi are part of the 24-man roster for the first Final Round FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Honduras Wednesday.

Wednesday's match will be cap No. 10 for Edu (Bursaspor), the fourth for Zusi (Sporting Kansas City) and the first for Gonzalez (LA Galaxy). The opening match kicks off in San Pedro Sula at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast live on beIN SPORT.

The U.S. and Honduras are part of the six-team Hexagonal along with Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico and Panama. The 10-game, round-robin format will be contested from Feb. 6-Oct.10.

The top three teams will automatically advance to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, while the fourth-place team will compete in a two-leg playoff against the champion from the Oceania Confederation.
