As a Junior in 2015: Helped shut out #4 Notre Dame in a 0-0 tie (8/28)...held St. Johns to zero goals in a 4-0 victory (8/30)...bolstered a 2-1 win over #1 UCLA (9/4)...contributed to a shutout in a 0-0 tie against Michigan (9/11)...scored the game-winning header in the 84th minute in a 1-0 shutout over Navy (9/14)...allowed zero goals in a 0-0 tie at Michigan State (9/18).

As a Sophomore in 2014: Appeared in 20 games, posting 16  starts… notched one assist against Michigan (9/12)…scored the game-winning goal against #5 Indiana (10/19)…tabbed Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week (10/20) for his effort in wins against Lehigh and Indiana... helped the defense to shutouts in games against UMBC (9/5), VCU (10/8), #3 Penn State (10/12), Lehigh (10/15), Ohio State (11/1), Rutgers (11/9), and Michigan State (11/14).

Before Maryland: Enrolled a semester early at Maryland...went a combined 40-1-3 at Gahanna Lincoln in 2011 and 2012...also competed for coach Billy Thompson and the Crew Academy...a two-time state champion in baseball...ranked the #16 defender by State Cup Champions with Worthington United... was leading scorer with 28 goals...Crew Juniors were State Cup Runner-up in 2009...First Team All-District in 2011.

Personal: Alexander Crognale was born August 27, 1994 in Columbus, Ohio...son of Corey and Karen Crognale...father played baseball at Marietta...has two brothers, Ben and Eli...older brother Ben plays soccer at Loyola University in Chicago and younger brother Eli is commited to play at Belmont in 2016...came to Maryland to for 'the great soccer program, very good athletics and just felt like the right fit'...enjoys basketball in his spare time...major is economics.
