COLLEGE PARK, Md. The University of Maryland baseball team has joined forces with the Maryland Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to help raise funds for the Vs. Cancer Foundation to support game-changing research to fight childhood cancer.

To contribute to the cause, visit Maryland.vs-cancer.org to donate or become a fundraiser. A custom URL will be generated upon enrolling as fundraiser. The custom URL can be used via social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).

In support of the effort, the month of March has been deemed “Mustache March.” Be sure to post pictures via social media with hashtags #mustachemarch and #kidsvscancer along with your custom link.

The Terps will hold Kids Vs. Cancer Day at Shipley Field at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium on Saturday, April 19. Children battling cancer will be honored on the field prior to the start of Maryland’s game against Georgia Tech at 2 p.m. along with other fun activities scheduled for the afternoon. In addition, all student-athletes are invited to shave their heads in support of the cause following the conclusion of the game.

Last year, Maryland raised close to $10,000 for the foundation and has set a goal of $20,000 for the 2014 campaign. Bobby Ruse, Brandon Casas, Kyle Convissar, Kevin Mooney and Jared Price were Maryland’s top-five fundraisers from a year ago.

The Vs. Cancer Foundation is dedicated to saving kids’ lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts.
