PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Hayley Brock, a senior on the 2013 University of Maryland women's soccer team, was drafted in the third round by the Chicago Red Stars in the 2014 National Women's Soccer League draft Friday in Philadelphia.
Brock, a native of Acton, Mass., is a two-time All-ACC honoree and earned her 2013 selection after leading the Terrapins in points (29), goals (11) and shots (67) and tied for third in assists (5). Despite missing two conference matches due to injury, Brock led the Terps with five goals in ACC matches, including three game-winning goals.
Brock finished her three-year Terrapin career ranked third in points (80) and goals (32) and tied for 11th in assists (16). Nine of Brock’s goals were game-winners during her career at Maryland.
Brock will join Terp alums Ashley Grove (Western NY Flash), Domenica Hodak (Washington Spirit) and Jasmyne Spencer (Washington Spirit), who were on 2013 NWSL rosters, in the league, which enters its second season this spring with nine teams.
