The 2008 Maryland men’s soccer team was recently named the top collegiate men’s soccer national-championship winning squad in history by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

The 2008 unit set “The Gold Standard” for men’s soccer at Maryland, capturing the ACC regular season and tournament title on its way to winning the national championship.

The squad boasts USMNT starters and MLS Best XI winners Graham Zusi and Omar Gonzalez. Other players currently on MLS rosters include Rodney Wallace (Portland),  AJ Delagarza (Los Angeles), Matt Kassel (Philadelphia), Casey Townsend (DC), Zac MacMath (Philadelphia) and Jeremy Hall (Toronto).

TDS readers were asked to vote the best title-winning side in history. Maryland won with 57 percent of the vote, topping 1993 Virginia, 1997 UCLA, 1998 Indiana and 2010 Akron.
