#8 Terps Host Delaware State Saturday Night

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 8 Maryland women’s basketball team will welcome Delaware State to Comcast Center Saturday for a 7 p.m. matchup. The Terrapins will look to win their eighth straight game before heading into their break for exams and the holidays.

The Maryland men’s team plays Florida Atlantic at 2 p.m. in the first game of the day Saturday. All fans can get $1 off their ticket to the women’s game when they show a church bulletin at the box office as part of Faith & Family Night. All campers from the 2013 Maryland women’s basketball summer camps (eighth grade and under) can get free youth general admission tickets with the purchase of an adult ticket.

Maryland (9-1) beat Siena, 105-49, Monday night in its highest scoring output of the year. Senior Alyssa Thomas picked up her third career triple-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. She owns three of the seven triple-doubles in Maryland basketball history, while Derrick Lewis owns two and Marissa Coleman and Greivis Vasquez each have one. Thomas now leads the nation in double-doubles with nine straight.

Redshirt junior Laurin Mincy led the Terrapins in scoring vs. Siena with 21 points off four threes. Lexie Brown, Brene Moseley, Katie Rutan and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough all hit double figures.

Maryland is 3-0 all-time vs. Delaware State (3-4). In their most recent meeting, six Terps hit double figures as they won 108-33 on Dec. 8, 2011 in Comcast Center in the largest margin of victory in school history.

The Terrapins are ranked No. 8 in the latest Associated Press and USA Today National Coaches polls.

After Saturday’s game, the Terrapins will take time off for exams and the holidays. They will host the annual Terrapin Classic Dec. 28-29 at Comcast Center with Wofford, Howard and College of Charleston coming to College Park.

Maryland will play Wofford on Dec. 28 at noon with Howard and College of Charleston playing at 2:30 p.m. On Dec. 29, Maryland will play either Howard or College of Charleston at approximately 1:30 p.m., or 30 minutes after the other two schools play at 11 a.m.
