#1 A Wakeup Call
Is it possible Maryland’s tumultuous defensive performance against Wake Forest in the first half served as a Wakeup call for the Terps?
All signs point to yes. Since allowing four goals in the first half against Wake Oct. 19 at Ludwig, the Terps have played 230 minutes of sparkling defense and have not allowed a goal since the 41st minute versus the Demon Deacons.
#2 We Need YOU Friday
We’ve had some great crowds this season, most notably the first game of the season when a record 8,397 of you trekked out to Ludwig for one of the finest nights in program history. Let’s pack it again.
There’s a lot at stake Friday. First it’s senior night. Are you going to miss witnessing Patrick Mullins’ PK prowess, Sunny Jane’s smile, Helge Leikvang’s 30-yard bombs, Gordon Murie’s crowd-pleasing entrance, Jake Pace being Jake Pace, and Widner Saint Cyr’s knack for the clutch? If you can answer yes to any of the above, then we’ll see you Friday.
Second, it’s the ACC home finale. Finale finale. Friday’s match against NC State will be the last Maryland ever plays in the regular season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference at Ludwig. How do you want to be remembered?
Last, and certainly not least, below are the most recent ACC standings. No further explanation needed.
#3 Everyone Loves Sunny
Even with a relatively small crowd on hand, it was impossible to not see the elevated excitement after fan favorite Sunny Jane scored his first goal this year against Drexel last Tuesday.
It wasn’t the most difficult kick Jane has ever had to make as fellow senior Patrick Mullins’ cross was near-perfect but it seemed everyone, including those in the press box, could simultaneously feel the seemingly 300 pound weight on the senior’s shoulders finally fall off.
