COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's cross country team will look to continue its strong fall at the 2012 ACC Cross Country Championships, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Blacksburg, Va.
"Over the past few weeks, the team has been diligently preparing to peak for the ACC Championships," said head coach Andrew Valmon. "Everything we have worked for this fall has led us here. The ACC is a very competitive conference and I expect to see our student-athletes step up to compete at a high level."
The Terps have been led this fall by its upperclassmen.
Junior Becky Yep is coming off of her first career victory at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational on Oct. 12. She will be joined at the front of the pack by senior Anna Roth, who herself took top honors at the UMES Lid-Lifter in September, and sophomore Myah Hicks, who has been among Maryland's top finishers in each of the competitions she's been in.
Freshmen Catherine Sheffo and Jackie Lazzaro will also be contenders to be point-scorers for the Terps. Sheffo was impressive at the Blue & Gold Invitational and was the Terps' sixth finisher at the Paul Short Invitational. Lazzaro has steadily improved this fall and was Maryland's fourth runner to cross the line at the Paul Short Invitational.
