Sept. 14, 2012
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's cross country team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Navy's Salty Dog Invitational in Annapolis.
The meet will mark the season debuts for several Terrapins who did not compete in the season-opening UMES Lid-Lifter Invitational on Sept. 1.
Among those making their 2012 debuts will be junior Maryam Fikri, who will see her first action since the 2010 season, as she did not compete last season. As a freshman, Fikri bookended the season with a strong opening meet showing at the Mount St. Mary's Duals and was one of the Terps' top five finishers at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at State College, Pa.
Sophomore Myah Hicks will also be making her 2012 debut this Saturday in Annapolis. Last season she was Maryland's top finisher at the Salty Dog, placing 11th overall.
Senior Anna Roth will look to use her first-place finish at the UMES Lid-Lifter to build momentum heading into Saturday's race. Last season she was the Terps' second finisher, coming in 12th overall, just two seconds behind Hicks.
