As a Junior (2014): Placed 15th over 5K at the Mount St. Mary’s Duals in a time of 18:35.65…placed first among Maryland runners with a time of 23.16.64 to finish 16th at the Navy Salty Dog Invitational (6K)…finished the Lehigh Paul Short Invitational in a time of 22:40…crossed the line in 23:50.3 at the Big Ten Championships to place sixth on the team…notched a time of 22:37 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals to finish third on the team.
As a Sophomore (2013): Competed in three events… finished 40th at the Salty Dog Invitational (22:52.55) over 6K… placed 86th overall over 6K at the Princeton Cross Country Invitational (23:18)… crossed the line in 111th position over 6K (23:07.3) at the 2013 ACC Championships.
As a Freshman (2012): One of only three Terps to compete in all six events in 2012 (Jackie Lazzaro, Anna Roth)... Finished 4th in collegiate debut as Maryland took top seven individual spots to win UMES Lid-Lifter... Ran 20:21 over 5K course... Third on the team and 33rd overall at Navy's Salty Dog Invitational, going 24:02 over 6K.. Best 6K time of season came as Terps were 2nd as a team at Blue & Gold Invitational... Went 22:54 to place 19th overall, 4th on the team... Ran in 6th spot on team at ACC Championships in 23:15 at Virginia Tech... Also 6th on team and 118th overall in 23:13 at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
Before Maryland: Won the 1,600, 400, and 800 meters at districts while also finishing third in the 200 meters at districts as a senior... Has three Dubois Area High School records, 1600 meters (5:11.92 in 2012), 800 meters (2:18.09 in 2012) and anchored the 4x800 meter school record (9:43.93 in 2010)... Team won district championship all four years... Won the 2011 district championship in her only season running cross country.
Personal: Daughter of Gregory and Karen Sheffo... Has two younger sisters, Monica and Natalie... Father played football at University of Pennsylvania... Taught Sunday school in high school... Graduated summa cum laude... Was an AP Scholar and recognized by the National Merit Scholar... Enjoys playing the piano in her spare time... Chose Maryland because of the great journalism school.
