AUGUSTA, Ga. - Sophomore Juliet Vongphoumy shot an 11-over 227, and tied for 25th at the Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate this weekend. As a team, Maryland shot a 949 (317-315-317), and finished 13th in this year's field.
Senior Christine Shimel shot an uncharacteristic 244 (80-80-84) on the weekend, a season high for the Kennett Square, Pa native. Freshman Heidi Baek finished tied for 56th, posting a 237 (80-79-78) at the tournament.
"This week was a good learning experience for our team," said Assistant coach Tiffany Prats "Forest Hills [Golf Club] was a true test of golf, requiring accurate shots into large undulating greens that were very fast."
Purdue captured the team title, shooting a 12-over 876 (295-291-290) for the tournament. Vanderbilt was one shot behind the leaders, posting an 877 (290-293-294), and Notre Dame placed third with an 888 (303-290-295). Notre Dame's Ashley Armstrong jumped four spots on Sunday to win the individual title with a one-under 215.
