Position:
Tiffany Prats has been hired as the assistant coach for women's golf, director of intercollegiate golf Jason Rodenhaver announced recently.

Prats comes to Maryland after spending two seasons at San Diego State. During her time with the Aztecs, they had three tournament victories as a team and two individuals won titles. San Diego State made back-to-back NCAA regional appearances for the first time in school history in her two seasons there.

"I'm really excited about returning to the east coast and the Atlantic Coast Conference," said Prats, who played collegiately at the University of Miami. "I'm looking forward to being part of the Maryland family. My goal is to help Maryland become one of the top programs in the ACC and in the country."

Rodenhaver became familiar with Prats during her time as a player at Miami, where she lettered for four seasons, spent two as a team captain and was a member of the Hurricanes' Student-Athlete Council.

"I have known Tiffany for six years," said Rodenhaver. "We're fortunate to have her. She's well known in the recruiting world both domestically and internationally.

"She's also a great player and knows the golf swing. First and foremost, she's a great communicator, which will help us with our women's team. In terms of her help with recruiting and development of players, both of those aspects are a home run with Tiffany."

Prats was named Girls Golfer of the Decade in October 2009 by the Gainesville (Fla.) Sun, after an outstanding prep career at Williston High School. She lost only one match in high school and was a two-time all-state selection.

She played in 37 tournaments at Miami, logging nine individual top-10 finishes. She played with the Hurricanes in the 2004 and 2005 NCAA regionals. She graduated from Miami in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in sports administration with a minor in business.

Prats then turned professional in 2007, playing on the LPGA Futures Tour, the Royal Canadian Tour and the Suncoast Series. She also worked as an assistant golf professional at the Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club in Coral Gables, Fla.
