NCAA qualifier ... one of four Terps to make the trip to the 2000 nationals in St. Louis ... lost to No. 9 seed Ed Hockenberry of Bloomsburg, 12-4, in the first round ... was eliminated from the consolation bracket by Anthony Ralph of Kent, 12-5 ... ACC Runner-up ... lost to NC State's Scott Garren in the finals, 10-2 ... considered a strong candidate for tournament's most outstanding wrestler through first two matches ... upset Virginia's Don Carlo-Clauss in the semifinals, 3-1, after losing to the Cavalier twice during the regular season ... pinned Duke's Geoff Anderson at 4:21 in the first round ... finished the season tied with heavyweight Jeremy Duncan for the team lead in falls with six ... ended the dual season with a 6-5 mark ... contributed to Maryland's comeback against ACC champion North Carolina on Jan. 15 with a 9-4 win over Dennis Landin ... his victory in the second-to-last match of the afternoon set up Josh Weidman's stunning upset of Jamie Groudle for the team's 21-19 triumph ... also defeated Duke's Anderson during the season, by technical fall, 15-0 (6:55), providing the five-point margin over the Blue Devils, 21-16 ... took three matches at the Millersville Belles Tournament ... shut out Pennsylvania's Matt Koppenheff, 7-0, and then won by default in 2:03 of Seton Hall's Jason Moyer ... won three of five matches to start off the season ... pinned two wrestlers in the tournament ... defeated Zeke Hernandez of Seton Hall in 3:49 ... also pinned an unattached Justin Wheatley in 1:09 ... the pin was the 10th fastest on the season among Maryland wrestlers ... ended the ACC regular season at 2-2.
Redshirted in 1999-2000: Compiled a 13-10 overall record … won five consecutive matches at the West Virginia Open to finish in the top eight of the prestigious event … earned victories in four of six matches at the Penn State Open … defeated Pat Cadawallader of North Carolina, 8-4, for his final win of the tourney … won his first career dual match with a 7-5 decision over Cairo Moorman of Coppin State … his critical victory over Moorman pushed the Terps past the Eagles, 19-16 … earned his first fall of the year in the Wilkes Open in 4:33 over Penn State's Todd Williams … competed in five different tournaments throughout the season.
Redshirted in 1997-98: Compiled a 5-6 overall record … won his first-ever collegiate match against Brian Matson of Pittsburgh-Johnstown by pin in 4:19 … competed in the West Virginia, East Stroudsburg and Penn State opens … won his first two matches at Penn State, including a 14-2 performance vs. Jared Weinfurtner of Princeton … defeated Joe Nastasi of Penn State in the opening round of the Millersville Invitational.
