Terps Travel To Wilkes-Barre Tournament

It took senior Jake Stork an average of just under three minutes to eliminate each of the four wrestlers he faced on Saturday and Sunday at the Wilkes Open.

Stork defeated Penn State's Curt Thompson in the first round of the tournament in 1:26, and in the second round, Millersville's Mark Knock went 4:48 before being pinned by Stork. Rider's Mike Robinson lost in just 1:10, and Stork completed the tournament pinning Garrett Bontcomp (unattached) in 3:30 to extend his team high in pins to 12 on the season.

First year wrestler John-Henry Zarzycki had another strong performance matching Stork with four wins. In the 141-pound weight class, Zarzycki recorded four wins before having to forfeit a match against Justin Lijo (unattached) due to medical reasons.

Freshman Zach Wendal made his third appearance of the season losing in his only match to Marc Rosenfeld 16-6 in the 125-pound weight class.

Adam James tallied two wins wrestling at 149 pounds including an 8-2 win over David Icenhower (unattached).

In the 157-pound weight class, Jason Kiessling, and John Antonelli wrestled strong. Kiessling finished with three wins, and Antonelli who is still recovering from an ankle injury notched his second and third wins of the season. Adam Beytin and Luke Stauffer also competed but failed to record a victory.

Gregory Lawrence earned his first two wins of the season defeating David Brundage of Lehigh 5-0, and Tim Deangelo 8-1; SV, in the 174-pound weight class. Patrick Cissne also recorded two wins including his first pin of the season against Josh Housekeeper (unattached) in 1:50. Lance Kearns also wrestled but did not record a win.

Barry Stein saw his first action of the season losing both of his matches wrestling at 197 pounds, and Mark Reid notched his sixth win of the season 5-2 over Eric Bleich of Wilkes.

In the heavyweight division Eric Fehnel recorded two wins to round out the Terps weekend at the Wilkes Open.

The Terps will be in action next at the Millersville Tournament on Saturday Jan. 4th.
