COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland wrestling team will compete in the 27th Annual Terrapin Trot 5k Race on October 14. In addition to the race, the Terrapins will then complete a quarter mile swim. All proceeds raised by the team will benefit the wrestling program in order for them to compete in national freestyle/greco-roman events, train at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs, and take part in other competitions that will help the wrestlers excel.
The 27th Annual Terrapin Trot 5k Race will be run on an USATF Certified (MD02012JS) course that begins at the Stamp Student Union on the College Park campus and ends at City Hall. The race starts at 9:00 a.m. and will be held rain or shine.
The quarter mile swim event that the Terps will run in the recreation pool is not associated with the 27th Annual Terrapin Trot 5k Race.
The expected goal of the biathlon is to raise $7,500 for the team. The wrestling team will pay a $10 entrance fee to benefit the University of Maryland Disaster Victims Fund. All of the other proceeds raised will benefit the University of Maryland Wrestling Team.
