COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 23 Maryland wrestling team will host local rival American on Wednesday night, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Comcast Pavilion. It is the final home dual match of the season for the Terrapins (13-4) who will honor their six departing seniors before action begins against the Eagles (3-12).
The Terps are coming off of a 22-12 win against Columbia on February 3 after losing its first dual meet since November 24 the day before to Penn.
The most anticipated match of the evening will be between sophomore Hudson Taylor, ranked No. 7 at 197 pounds, and No. 1 Josh Glenn, the defending national champion of the weight class. Glenn was the first Division I national champion for American.
Taylor enters the bout at 25-2 and is 16-1 in dual matches. Fifteen of his 25 wins have come by way of fall which ranks fifth in all of Division I. Glenn is a perfect 11-0 this season with a career mark of 102-12.
Maryland will also send out sophomore Mike Letts to the mat at 174 pounds who is ranked No. 9. Letts is 15-4 on the year with an 11-3 record in duals and has racked up six major decisions.
American features a couple more wrestlers ranked in the top 20 including No. 20 Kyle Borshoff at 141 pounds who is 19-6 on the year and No. 7 Mike Cannon who is 19-2 at 165 pounds.
The next time Maryland will be at home is for the 2008 ACC Championships which will be held in Comcast Center in the main arena on Saturday, March 8. Action begins at noon and all information regarding the tournament can be found online at umterps.com.
