COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland wrestling team continues dual action at home against Rider and Rutgers. Maryland will first take on the Broncos at noon before facing the Scarlet Knights at 2 p.m. All fans attending Saturday's duals will receive a free Maryland poster.
The Terps are looking to bounce back after last week's setback against American.
The Terps (1-3) are led by Andrew Schlaffer's 11 wins this season at 149 pounds. The sophomore has also placed third at two tournaments (Mat Town Invitational and Body Bar Classic). He also has three dual victories on the year. Freshmen Brendan Byrne (133) and Bryan Reiss (285) and junior Jerry Afari (197) each have six wins on the year.
Rider (0-1) has had just one dual on the year, falling to No. 10 Lehigh, 26-15. The Terrapins and Broncos saw each other two weeks ago at the Mat Town Invitational. The Broncos finished one spot ahead of the Terps taking fifth place at the event. Rider is led by T.J. Morrison who is ranked 17th in the nation at 197 and Doug Umbehauer at 174 pounds, who was recently named the Colonial Athletic Association's Rookie of the Week.
