Stork Advances Through Bracket At Second Day Of Nationals

March 21, 2003

Senior Jake Stork began the day awaiting the winner of Boise State's Tony D'Amico and California's Bryan Travers for his first match in wrestle backs at the NCAA tournament being held in Kansas City, Mo.

After posting a one and one record on day one of competition, Stork dropped down, and now must fight his way through wrestle backs.

D'Amico's 7-2 victory over Travers pushed him into a second round matchup with the nation's learder in pins. Stork made quick work, beating him by an 11-5 count.

Advancing on, Stork faced Johns Hopkins Dave Colabella in the third round of wrestle backs and beat him in a neat 4:27 via technical fall. The 16-1 win put Stork through to the quarterfinals of wrestle backs where he will face the third-seeded Clint Wattenberg of Cornell.

Wattenberg won two matches before losing to sixth-seeded Josh Lambrecht of Oklahoma. This match against Stork will be his first in wrestle backs.
