COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After defeating then-No. 4 Cornell and taking second place at the Body Bar Invitational last weekend, the sixth-ranked University of Maryland wrestling team travels to Troy, N.Y., Saturday for three tough dual meets as part of the Journeymen/Asics Northeast Duals.

The Terps (3-0) will face a number of difficult tests, going head-to-head with Northern Colorado, No. 10 Central Michigan and No. 12 Lehigh. Maryland's three opponents have a combined 12 wrestlers ranked in the Intermat Top 20.

"The guys understand that we need to remain focused and build off the momentum from last week and I've been very pleased with their preparation," said head coach Kerry McCoy. "We're trying to get better every day to prepare ourselves for March and this weekend is another important step."

Maryland has close ties to both Lehigh and Central Michigan. During his time at Lehigh, McCoy shared the sidelines with former Maryland head coach Pat Santoro, who was also on the staff at Penn State when McCoy was a wrestler. Santoro left Maryland following the 2007 season to take the head coaching position at Lehigh.

Maryland assistant coach Brandon Sinnott graduated from Central Michigan in 2008 as a two-time All-American and the only wrestler in school history to win three individual Mid-American Conference titles. He served as a graduate assistant for the Chippewas in 2008-09, prior to accepting his current position with the Terps.

Northern Colorado will be competing in its first dual meet of the season when it meets Maryland Saturday. The Bears competed in the Cowboy Open in Laramie, Wyo., on Nov. 14 and hosted the Northern Colorado Open on Nov. 22, though no team scores were kept at the events.

Central Michigan enters Saturday's match 1-0 in dual action, having also competed in the Eastern Michigan Open and Michigan State open on Nov. 7 and Nov. 15, respectively. Seven of the Chippewas 10 probable starters are ranked in the top 20, including Mike Miller, who is No. 1 in the nation at 174 pounds.

Lehigh, meanwhile, holds a 4-1 record with two wins over ranked opponents. The Mountain Hawks have wins over No. 15 Penn State and No. 24 Michigan, with their lone loss coming at the hands of No. 5 Ohio State.

The Terps are led by four wrestlers ranked in the top 10 of their weight divisions. Two-time All-American and third-ranked Hudson Taylor (197 pounds) was named ACC Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday after going 6-0 over the weekend, including two victories over then-No. 5 Cam Simaz of Cornell. With 66 career pins, he is just three shy of tying the school record of 69 set by Jake Stork. Mike Letts is ranked No. 4 at 174 pounds while Steven Bell (133) and Alex Krom (141) are both ranked No. 7. Bell is a perfect 7-0 on the season.

Action gets underway at 9:15 a.m. as Maryland takes on Northern Colorado at Hudson Valley Community College. The Terps face Central Michigan at 1:15 p.m. and Lehigh at 3:15 p.m.
