Senior Jake Stork opened up competition at the NCAA Wrestling Championships today in Kansas City, Mo., by winning one match and losing another.
Stork began the tournament with a win over Purdue's Ben Wissel, 11-7, to push his win total to 36 on the season.
In his second match of the tournament, Stork faced a familiar foe in Penn State's Mark Becks, and lost. The 9-8 decision Becks posted over Stork was his second of the season over Stork. Earlier in the year, Becks defeated Stork 6-5 in the finals of the Penn State Open to claim the title.
Wrestlebacks have been kind to Stork in the past, and he hopes they will again this year. Stork is set to face the winner of Boise State's Tony D'Amico and California's Bryan Travers in the second round of wrestlebacks. Last season Stork split his first two matches at nationals before running off three straight wins in wrestlebacks to finish the season strong.
