Terps Fall In The Virginia Dual Meet Tournament Final

The Maryland wrestling team dropped to 2-1 in dual meets on the season Saturday when SUNY-Brockport defeated the Terps 25-16.

Both seniors Jake Stork (184) and Sal Aquia (197) paced the Terps with three wins in their three matches at the Virginia Duals held at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va this weekend.

Jason Gribshaw (133) won by forfeit for his first win of the weekend, and sophomore Adam James (149) recorded his thrid win of the weekend and ended the tournament with a major decision, giving the Terps their final lead of the match 10-9.

John-Henry Zarzycki(141), Jason Kiessling (157) and Patrick Cissne (174) were all able to go the distance in their matches, losing only by a combined seven points. Zarzycki was the closest to earning a win, but lost by a score of 3-2; Kiessling wrestled hard but lost 7-5, and Cissne lost 7-3. Brian Mullaney (165) lost by a major decision 13-4.

At the bookends of the match, Matt Pandullo (125) and Eric Fehnel (HWT) both got pinned in 4:19 and 1:36, respectively.

The Terps will be in action next against Navy at the Comcast Center in College Park, Md., Wednesday, Jan. 15.
