GREENSBORO, N.C. - Redshirt junior Josh Haines was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week after going 4-0 and capturing the 184-pound championship at the Body Bar Systems Invitational at Cornell on November 17. Haines' run included a pin against Eric Chine of Kent State who was ranked No. 16 in the country.
Haines registered a 15-0 technical fall in his first match of the tournament against Travis Dale of No. 8 Cornell. He followed that match with the pin against Chine which happened in just 2:40. In the semifinals, he used a 4-1 decision to advance where he pinned Nate Holley in the championship match in 2:41.
Haines' performance helped the Terrapins finish third at the tournament behind Cornell and No. 11 Wisconsin.
The Terps are back in action on Saturday, November 24 when they travel to Troy, N.Y. to take part in the Journeymen/BRUTE Northeast Duals. Maryland will face No. 5 Michigan, Appalachian State, and No. 9 Central Michigan that day at Hudson Valley Community College. Admission to the event is $20.
