Feb. 26, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore Hudson Taylor was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week for the fifth time this season after defeating a pair of ranked opponents last week in two Maryland wins. Taylor is 28-2 on the season and has not lost since November 17.

Taylor won both of his matches by major decision. He earned his first win of the week with an 8-0 shutout of No. 12 Cayle Byers of George Mason and then the four points he won against Virginia's Brent Jones, ranked No. 20, proved to be the decider in a 16-15 win for the Terps, ensuring Maryland's second-straight undefeated season in the ACC.

It was the first time Taylor had faced ranked opponents in consecutive matches all season. The Pennington, N.J., product has not lost in his last 22 outings and his 16 falls rank fifth in the nation.

Taylor and the rest of the No. 22 wrestling team will host the 2008 ACC Championship on Saturday, March 8. For all information regarding the tournament, please click here.
