Senior Jimmy Sheptock will take on Boise State’s Jake Swartz in the featured 184 pound bout at the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic this Saturday at George Mason University.

A consensus top-5 competitor to start the season, Sheptock was originally slated to face preseason No. 1 and defending national champion Ed Ruth of Penn State in the Classic. Swartz, the No. 6 184 pounder in the nation according to Amateur Wrestling News, will replace Ruth.

An All-American last season, Sheptock has been a standout performer since he assumed a spot in the Terps starting lineup in his sophomore season. That year, Sheptock went 27-6, including an unblemished 12-0 in dual competition, en route to his first ACC title and NCAA Championship appearance.

Following Josh Asper’s shift to 174 pounds, Sheptock did not miss a beat at 184 pounds last season, finishing with a 40-6 record. The Northampton, Pa. native captured his second ACC title and earned All-American status at NCAA Championships.

Sheptock has not lost a dual match in his Maryland career and is just three wins away from 100 overall victories. The senior will also be one of three Terrapin captains this season.

Doors open at George Mason’s Patriot Center at 5:45 p.m and tickets are available here. will also provide a live webcast of the event on its premium streaming service
