Trio of Terps Earn Academic Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - University of Maryland wrestlers Dallas Brown, Domenic DeRobertis and Danny Orem have been named to the 2012-13 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling Academic Team, the league announced Wednesday.

Brown is one of eight student-athletes on the squad to have been named to the team more than once. The Wellsville, Pa., native is a two-time honoree majoring in microbiology. This season, Brown finished the year 12-8 wrestling at heavyweight.

Domenic DeRobertis and Danny Orem are first-time honorees. DeRobertis and Orem earned starting sports at 165 and 157 pounds, respectively, this season. DeRobertis, who is majoring in physiology and neurobiology, competed for the Terps at the ACC Championships.

Orem, who is majoring in kinesiology, battled injuries throughout the season at 157 and finished with three duals wins for the Terps.

To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a minimum 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a minimum 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

Virginia's Matt Snyder earned ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season. Duke led all schools with six student-athletes on the All-ACC Wrestling Academic Team.
