COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland wrestling head coach Kerry McCoy announced the signing of Tyler Manion on Wednesday to the class of 2012. Manion, who currently wrestles for Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School, finished fourth at 140 pounds at the 2011 National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Junior National Wrestling Championships.

"Tyler is a great kid and brings a lot of experience to our program," said McCoy. "He will add some depth to our middle weights and help make the program better. I am very happy he is joining our family."

Manion is projected to compete for the Terps at 157 or 165 pounds. As a junior, Manion won the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL)/Southwest Regional Championship and the Allegheny County Championship. Manion concluded the season with a sixth place finish at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Championship.
