GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Jake Stork (Mohrsville, Pa.) was named the ACC's wrestler of the week on Tuesday after his stellar performance at the Warrior Duals in East Stroudsburg this past Saturday.
The 184-pound grappler recorded two pins in three matches on Saturday to give him a team-high 13 falls for the season, eclipsing the mark of 12 he notched all of last year. The 13 pins also ties a career-high for Stork. In Maryland's 25-12 win over Binghamton, he pinned Mark Tse in 1:20. Later in the day, Stork pinned Dave Colabella in 6:28 in the 33-7 win over James Madison. For Colabella, it was the second straight week he has fell victim to Stork, who pinned the James Madison wrestler last weekend at the Millersville Invitational in 4:38. In the Terps' 22-13 victory over VMI, he earned an 11-8 decision over Jason Cox for his 21st victory of the season.
Stork was one of five Maryland wrestlers to win all three of his matches on the day as the Terps swept the competition at the Warrior Duals. Coach McHugh's squad was the only team in the six-team meet to win all of their matches.
Stork and the Terps take their undefeated 3-0 dual mark to Annapolis for a 7 p.m. meet with Navy on Wednesday night.
