GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md.) was named the ACC's wrestler of the week on Monday after taking the championship in the 141-pound weight class at the Millersville Invitational this past Saturday.
York won four matches on Saturday, defeating Pat Diaz of James Madison to secure his third title in Millersville, earning him Most Outstanding Wrestler honors in the tournament. The senior won the event in 1999 and last season. Saturday's championship was also the second consecutive tournament title for the senior, who won the title at the Wilkes Open the week before. The Millersville Invitational crown marks the 11th title for York in his stellar Maryland wrestling career.
A three-time ACC champion at 133 pounds, York bulked up this season to compete at the 141-pound weight class where he has already won two tournament titles. The team-leader in wins, York boasts a 22-4 mark on the year.
