#13 Terps Prepare for Two ACC Duals

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The 13th-ranked Maryland wrestling team (12-0, 2-0 ACC) travels to Tobacco Road on Friday to take on North Carolina at 7 p.m. and closes the weekend at No. 22 Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Terps are looking to remain unbeaten in conference heading into the back half of the season.

Maryland earned a pair of dual victories last weekend against Navy and NC State. Against the Midshipmen, momentum swung in the Terps favor after 11th-ranked Kyle John pinned Bobby Barnhisel 1:24 into the match and gave Maryland a 13-6 lead.

Freshman Geoffrey Alexander put his stamp on the match against the Wolfpack. Alexander had three takedowns halfway through the first period and eventually won by technical fall over Ben Elliott to extend the Terps' lead to 8-0.

Live stats will be available and North Carolina All-Access will provide a live webcast of the dual against the Tar Heels.

The Terps are seeking their third straight dual victory over the Tar Heels and their sixth straight win over the Wahoos.

The Tar Heels have lost four straight dual meets including loses to Virginia and Virginia Tech last weekend. However, of North Carolina's 11 dual-meet losses, seven have come against teams currently in the top-25, and nine have come against teams receiving votes for the top-25.

Corey Mock leads the team in wins with 22. The 18th-ranked wrestler at 157 is 9-3 in duals this season and 2-0 in conference duals.

Evan Henderson is second on the team in victories (21) with nine coming via fall. Henderson is currently ranked 20th at 141 and is 1-2 in ACC duals.

The Cavaliers have won three straight ACC duals over Duke, NC State and North Carolina and feature four wrestlers in InterMat's top-25.

Nick Nelson is the highest-rated Cavalier. Nelson is the ninth-ranked wrestler at 141 and is second on the team in wins with 18. Nelson is 3-1 in ACC duals.

At 165, 15th-ranked Nick Sulzer leads the Cavs in victories (19) with eight major decisions.

Matt Synder, ranked 11th at 125, is undefeated in ACC duals at 4-0 with five-of-17 wins coming via fall.

At 184, 14th-ranked Jon Fausey is 7-0 in dual meets and has scored 32 points in those seven matches which is a team high.
