COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland women’s lacrosse assistant coach Lauri Kenis was inducted into the US Lacrosse Charlottesville Chapter Hall of Fame this past weekend.

A two-time All-American at Virginia, Kenis led the Cavaliers to a pair of NCAA finals appearances. She was a four-year letterwinner and was a two-time All-ACC honoree while also earning NCAA and ACC All-Tournament accolades.

Kenis ranks fourth in the Virginia record books with 107 career turnovers, including 43 in the 2003 season. She was a captain for the Cavaliers in her senior season in 2003. Kenis competed for Team USA in 2004.

Kenis joined the Maryland coaching staff in 2007 after previously serving as an assistant coach in 2004 and 2005. In the last 10 years, Kenis has helped the Terps return to the upper echelon in the sport, and has helped lead Maryland to the 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2017 NCAA Championships.

Under Kenis, the Terps have earned six IWLCA National Defenders of the Year, including the last four (Nadine Hadnagy, 2017; Alice Mercer, 2016; Megan Douty, 2015, 2014). Maryland’s defense annually ranks as one of the best nationally.
