COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Junior wrestler Youssif Hemida has been named the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week after his performance in Maryland's victory at Stanford and at the Road Runner Open last weekend.
Hemida knocked off then No. 12 Nathan Butler in Maryland's victory over Stanford with a buzzer-beating takedown. His 3-1 decision was his third win over a ranked opponent this season and clinched Maryland's third consecutive dual win. It is the Terps' first three-match winning streak since the 2014-15 campaign.
Hemida also went 4-0 and had three wins by way of fall at the Road Runner Open on Sunday, earning him a first place finish in the heavyweight division. The Terps success at the Road Runner Open gave them a fourth place team finish in the event.
Hemida's success this weekend moved him up to No. 12 in the InterMat heavyweight rankings.
Maryland will be back on the mat on Sunday, Nov. 26 for the Mat Town Open and then will continue its dual slate on Dec. 2 with a Big Ten bout at Northwestern.
