SPARKS, Md. – Numerous former members of the Maryland women’s lacrosse program will converge on US Lacrosse Headquarters on Saturday for the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League’s Legends’ Celebration and Legends’ Game.
The league, which will play its first season in 2018, will honor players and coaches who helped pave the way for women’s lacrosse in the 2017 Legends’ Game at 12:30 p.m. WPLL will host its first exhibition game with players drafted this summer following the legends’ game.
The Terps have 19 of the league’s 80 legendary players, including Jen Adams, Kelly Amonte-Hiller, Erin Brown Millon, Quinn Carney, Sarah Forbes, Laura Harmon, Christie Kemezis, Sonia LaMonica, Alex Kahoe, Kerstin Kimmel, Meghan McNamara, Caitlyn Phipps, Sascha Newmarch, Cathy Reese, Kristin Sommar, Randall Swope, Michele Uhlfelder, Acacia Walker and Jess Wilk. Reese and Amonte-Hiller will also be honored as legendary coaches.
The Terps had 16 former players taken in the inaugural WPLL draft, the most of any university. Taylor Cummings ’16, Zoe Stukenberg ’17, Alex Aust ’13 and Dana Dobbie ’08 are among the players scheduled to compete in the WPLL exhibition game.
