Tour, Alexandrova Crack ITA Preseason Ranking

Maryland Athletics

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Senior Ekaterina Tour and freshman Eva Alexandrova were named to the Oracle ITA Division I Women's Top-60 Preseason Doubles Rankings, the ITA announced Tuesday.

This is the first Maryland duo to make the ITAs Fall Preseason Rankings since Welma Luus and Nataliya Bredikhina in 2014.

Tour was a large part of a Maryland team that set the best spring record in program history last season. Both her 16 singles wins and 15 doubles victories led the team to a 16-5 overall record and a 7-4 B1G record.

Alexandrova comes to Maryland as one of the highest rated recruits in program history. She was 118th in the ITF International Rankings when she signed her National Letter of Intent. She won a Grade 3 ITF Tournament in Kazakhstan and spent the summer before coming to Maryland playing tournaments in Asia.

Maryland will kick off its fall schedule this weekend with split-squad action. Juniors Arnelle Sullivan and Millie Stretton will be headed to New York for the Columbia Invitational and Saya Usui, Katsiaryna Yemelyanenka and Zoe Kulkarni will be participating in the Bedford Cup at the College Park Tennis Club.
