COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland baseball placed a league-high four players into the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game, which was played Monday night at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda. Senior Zach Jancarski (Bethesda Big Train), senior Justin Morris (Bethesda Big Train), junior John Murphy (Bethesda Big Train) and freshman Randy Bednar (Baltimore Redbirds) represented the Terps.

Maryland has 11 CRCBL All-Stars over the past two seasons, the most of any program.

Jancarski has taken his fine spring form into the summer and paces the Big Train with a .391 average and .512 on-base percentage. The lead-off threat has stolen 11 bases and scored 18 runs.

Morris’ hot final half of Maryland’s season has also transferred into summer play. The catcher boasts a .347 average and .592 slugging percentage. He has provided the Big Train with three home runs and 12 RBIs.

A standout postseason performer for Maryland in 2017, Murphy’s performance has been steady for the Big Train. The right-hander has posted a 3.68 ERA so far this summer, and has struck out 24 in 22 innings pitched.

Bednar, who will suit up for the Terps for the first time this upcoming season, holds an average of .329 for the Redbirds and is tied for the team lead with three home runs. He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak and has a .404 on-base percentage.
