TEMPE, Ariz. – Maryland’s doubles duo of Eva Alexandrova and Millie Stretton finished the season as the second-ranked doubles tandem in the Atlantic Region, the ITA announced Tuesday.

The ranking comes after the two dominated in Maryland’s spring campaign, picking up a team-best 16 victories. They ended their season by upsetting Northwestern’s doubles team of Lipp/Larner, which was ranked fourth in the nation when Alexandrova and Stretton took them down, 6-3, in the Big Ten quarterfinals. The tandem ended the season ranked 52nd in the ITA National Rankings.

Alexandrova also cracked the singles rankings, coming in as the sixth-ranked singles player in the region. The Moscow, Russia-native shined in her freshman campaign, becoming the second-ever Terrapin to earn All-B1G honors. She is also the first Terrapin since Alexandra Stanova in 2014 to earn All-Conference honors. Alexandrova tallied 11 wins between the top two spots of Maryland’s singles lineup in 2017-18.

Senior Ekaterina Tour joined Alexandrova in the singles rankings, capping off her career ranking 14th in the region.

As a team, the Terrapins ended the season as the sixth-ranked squad in the Atlantic region. The Terrapins 2017-18 season included participating in the ITA Kickoff event, and advancing to the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals for the third-consecutive season. Maryland will return an experienced roster for the 2018-19 campaign, after graduating just one senior.
