COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior David Kocher (Charlotte, N.C.) and sophomore Peter Knade (Easton, Md.) of the Maryland men’s golf team earned individual bids to NCAA Regionals Wednesday. Kocher and Knade will compete in the Columbus region at Ohio State May 14-16.

Kocher is the first Terrapin to receive an NCAA Regionals individual bid in all four years of his career. This is Knade’s first NCAA appearance.

Kocher earned All-Big Ten honors Tuesday for the third time in his four-year career. He was voted to the Second Team by the league’s head coaches. Last weekend at the Big Ten Championships in Baltimore, Kocher finished tied for fifth in the individual standings and made the All-Big Ten Tournament Team for the third time in his four years. He finished with an overall score of 212 (69-68-75), which was two strokes over.

He has won two collegiate individual titles in his time at Maryland, including the Tiger Invitational earlier this spring in Opelika, Ala. His career scoring average of 71.8 is the lowest in the Maryland record books (since 1999) and his four season scoring averages top the Maryland record books as well.

Kocher has also been named to the PING All-Northeast Region Team in each of his first three seasons at Maryland and earned two Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors.

Knade racked up two top 10 finishes and eight top 20 finishes in the Terps’ 10 events this year. His season scoring average is 71.57, second on the team behind Kocher’s 71.33.

Knade finished tied for 18th in the Big Ten Championships with his score of 216 (71-72-73), which was +6. He was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Oct. 4 after finishing sixth in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
