ROSEMONT, Ill. – Senior David Kocher of the Maryland men’s golf team earned All-Big Ten honors Tuesday for the third time in his four-year career. Kocher was voted to the Second Team by the league’s head coaches.

Last weekend at the Big Ten Championships in Baltimore, Kocher (Charlotte, N.C.) finished tied for fifth in the individual standings and made the All-Big Ten Tournament Team for the third time in his four years at Maryland. He finished with an overall score of 212 (69-68-75), which was two strokes over and tied for fifth in the standings.

He’s won two collegiate individual titles in his time at Maryland, including the Tiger Invitational earlier this spring in Opelika, Ala. His career scoring average of 71.8 is the lowest in the Maryland record books (since 1999) and his four season scoring averages top the Maryland record books as well.

Kocher has also earned NCAA Regionals bids as an individual in his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. He has been named to the PING All-Northeast Region Team in each of his first three seasons at Maryland.

Junior Timothy Colanta earned a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for the second straight season.

BTN will debut coverage of the Big Ten Championships on Monday, May 7 at 5 p.m. ET. The NCAA Men's Golf Championship selection show will air on the Golf Channel tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. ET.
