Kocher Set for NCAA Regionals Monday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior David Kocher of the Maryland men's golf team will compete in the NCAA Regionals beginning Monday in West Lafayette, Ind.

Kocher earned his third straight NCAA Regionals bid as an individual last week. He will compete in West Lafayette, Ind. at the Kampen Course Monday through Wednesday. The field for the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships consists of 81 teams and 45 individuals not on those teams. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete in West Lafayette. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals to be played May 26 to 31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.

Kocher led the way for Maryland at the Big Ten Men's Golf Championships April 28-30, finishing fourth overall and earning All-Tournament Team honors. In the final round, he posted the lowest score in the field with a five-under 65. Kocher birdied five of his last nine holes, using just 30 strokes on them. He finished the tournament -2 overall with a score of 208 (71-72-65).

Kocher earned an NCAA Regionals bid as a freshman in 2015 and competed in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Last year, he competed in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Terrapins have had an individual compete in each of the last five seasons. Sean Bosdosh earned bids in 2013 and 2014 and Tom Harris earned a bid with Kocher in 2016.
