ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Big Ten conference set its finalized schedule for the 2018-19 wrestling season, the conference announced this week.
Maryland will host Rutgers, Nebraska, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Michigan at the XFINITY Center, while traveling to face Purdue, Indiana, Iowa and Minnesota. The Big Ten Championships will also be at Minnesota, and the 2019 NCAA Championships will take place in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Seven of Maryland's upcoming conference foes finished the 2017-18 season ranked in the final InterMat top-25 rankings. Iowa and Michigan also finished third and fourth at the 2018 NCAA Championships respectively.
The Terps faced 10 ranked opponents last season, including matches against both No. 1 Penn State and No. 2 Ohio State. Maryland also squared off with No. 7 Iowa and No. 12 Rutgers.
Maryland will return three NCAA qualifiers in the 2018-19 season, including 2018 All-American Youssif Hemida. Hemida finished eighth at the NCAA Championships and finished his junior season with a team-best 30 wins. Ryan Diehl and Alfred Bannister will also return to a Maryland lineup that graduated just one wrestler who competed in more than 10 dual matches in the 2017-18 campaign.
