COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland held its spring commencement over the weekend, with a number of Maryland student-athletes participating in both the main graduation event at XFINITY Center and their school specific ceremonies. Four members of the Maryland field hockey program earned their degrees.
Carrie Hanks and Layne Litsinger earned their degrees in journalism from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Maddy Ulery earned her degree in hearing and speech sciences and Sarah Bates earned hers in communication.
A total of 70 student-athletes earned their degrees this spring. The graduating class includes student-athletes from 17 teams and over 50 members of their respective sport's all-conference academic teams.
“I’m so grateful to be a Terp,” graduate Carrie Hanks of field hockey said. “My time at Maryland has helped shape who I’ve become four years after stepping on campus for my first preseason. I’m proud of what I’ve been a part of on the field, in the classroom and everywhere in between, and am excited to see what the future holds. It seems unbelievable that graduation is so close but, of course, my time as a Terp doesn’t end - once a Terp, always a Terp!”
