COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland gymnastics team welcomes the addition of Tiara Wright, an incoming senior transferring from West Virginia University. Prior to missing the 2018 season due to injury, the Wilmington, Del. native was a consistantly strong competitor on three events; uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

Before Maryland

As a Sophomore (2016-17): Competed in 10 meets and earned time on bars, beam and floor...set or matched career highs on bars (9.9) and beam (9.85)...finished fourth on the team with eight podium finishes, including two wins on bars...scored 9.8 or better on bars in eight meets and did not drop a score on the event all season...placed third on bars at Pitt (1/13) with a 9.8 mark...tied for first on bars against Denver, Temple and Towson (1/29) with a 9.875 score...scored a career-best 9.85 on beam and finished second against Iowa State and Maryland; also finished second on bars with a 9.825...earned a career-best 9.9 on bars and finished tied for third at the 2017 NCAA Morgantown Regional Championships (4/1)...finished the season with averages of 9.828 on bars, a team-best 9.657 on beam and 8.5 on floor.

As a Freshman (2015-16): Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team...competed in all 13 meets, five as a three-event specialist, and finished fourth on team with 271.95 points...tallied three event wins and ranked No. 4 on the team with six podium finishes...tallied a career-high 9.9 on bars against Ohio State and Bowling Green (3/6) and tied for the event win...put together a fantastic performance at Pitt (3/13), scoring career highs on all three events and winning bars (9.9) and beam (9.85); also tallied 9.8 on floor.

Club Gymnastics: Five year level 10 gymnast at Parkettes National Gymnastics Center...four-time Junior Olympics National Championships qualifier and 2012 uneven bars national champion...finished in 10th place on balance beam at the 2015 Junior Olympics National Championships.

Personal: Daughter of Myron and Monet Horsey...has three sisters and two brothers...made the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
