Tian Set for Final Round in NCAA Regionals

AUSTIN, Texas -- Maryland women's golf sophomore Xiaolin Tian is set for the third and final round of the NCAA Women's Golf Regionals in Austin, Texas Wednesday. She is one of 24 individuals in postseason play at the NCAA Austin Regional.

Tian was one stroke over par in the first rounds Monday and Tuesday. She owns an overall score so far of 146 (73-73) and is tied for 29th. Tian will tee off at 9:50 a.m. ET Wednesday at the par-72, 6,341-yard University of Texas Golf Club. 

The low six teams and the low three individuals not on those teams will advance to the national championships to be played May 18-23 at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Tian is the first Maryland women’s golfer to make the NCAA tournament as an individual since Juliet Vongphoumy did so in 2015. Vongphoumy finished in 22nd after shooting a 224 (73-73-78).
