ROSEMONT, Ill. – Sophomore Xiaolin Tian of the Maryland women’s golf team was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team Tuesday, earning the first Big Ten honor for the Terps since Juliet Vongphoumy was named First Team All-Big Ten in 2015.
Tian finished tied for second in the Big Ten Championship this past weekend. She finished with a combined score of 211 (-5), shooting a season-low 18-hole score of 67 (-5) in the second round of the tournament.
Though Tian only competed in eight tournaments this season, she earned three top 10 finishes and five top 20 finishes.
She led the Terrapins this season with an 18-hole average of 73.1 and shot the lowest 54-hole score of the season when she shot a 210 (-3) in her T-7 finish at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate in September.
She also led the team with the most rounds equal to or less than par (10) and the most rounds in the 60s (5).
Freshman Laura Van Respaille was honored with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
The Terrapins finished tied for second at the Big Ten Women’s Golf Championship Sunday at TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, Ohio.
