COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Senior Ekaterina Tour won a pair of matches, but the Maryland women's tennis team fell to Purdue on Sunday, 4-3.
Tour's singles victory gives her 69 singles wins following her final collegiate match in College Park. She also has 63 doubles victories.
Maryland got the early advantage in the match after winning the doubles point. Tour and partner Arnelle Sullivan got the Terps ahead with a 6-1 victory at second doubles.
The Boilermakers were able to take the lead when singles play began, picking up victories at fifth and fourth singles.
Tour was then able to even the score for the Terrapins, winning 7-5, 6-0, at the second singles position. Stretton then put the Terps in front once again, winning in straight sets at third singles. It was her team-high 14th singles victory of the year.
Purdue then took matches at first and sixth singles, giving them the match victory. Both matches were three sets, with the sixth singles match ending in a tiebreak.
The Terps will now travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to take part in the 2018 Big Ten Championships. Maryland will be the nine seed and will play Thursday at 10:30 a.m. (CT). The Terps' opponent is to be determined.
