ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 14 Michigan scored eight runs through six innings to wrap up Maryland’s series with the Wolverines Sunday. The Terps (18-30, 7-10 B1G) couldn’t get their offense rolling in the contest, while miscues in the field led to a handful of Michigan runs throughout the afternoon.
Michigan ace Megan Beubien showed why was one of the best pitchers in the country, striking out 11 batters in six innings of work to earn her 27th win of the year.
The hosts used two home runs in the first two innings to race out to a 3-0 lead, before a pair of errors led to two more runs in the third. The fourth saw two more Wolverine runner cross before, Ryan Denhart got out of the fifth with a three up, three down frame.
Michigan clinched the win on a bases loaded single in the bottom of the sixth.
Maryland will return to action next weekend for a three-game road series at Ohio State.
