ROSEMONT, Ill - Junior goalkeeper Megan Taylor was tabbed as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

In wins this past week over No. 6 Virginia and Rutgers, Taylor was a force in the cage, only allowing 10 goals while recording 15 saves, a .600 percentage.

Taylor was essential on a Maryland defense that held the #6 team in the country to just eight goals, with none over the last 20 minutes when Maryland ended the game on a 6-0 run. Against Rutgers, Taylor came into the game 19 minutes in for senior Emma Moss and held Rutgers to just two goals for the next 41, totaling seven saves.

Taylor’s play has been key to a Maryland defense that has held their opponent to under 10 goals in six of their last seven games, while posting a 7-0 record.

This is the second time this season that Taylor has earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors, previously winning the honor two weeks back on March 27th. It also marks the fourth straight week Maryland has won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, with Taylor winning two and sophomore defender Lizzie Colson winning two.

The Terps are in New Jersey tonight to take on #19 Princeton at 6:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
