SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Senior Kristen Confroy of the Maryland women’s basketball team will compete in the 2018 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships Thursday, Intersport announced this week.
The 30th annual event, which will show case the dunking and long-range shooting talents of 24 of the country’s premier college basketball players, will air live on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. ET on March 29 from Greehey Arena at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Fans can also watch through WatchESPN.com and the Watch ESPN app.
The program consists of the Dunkin Donuts Slam Dunk Championship, the Great Clips Men's 3-Point Shooting Championship, the Marine’s Women's 3-Point Shooting Championship, the Samsung Battle of the Champions, and the Applebee’s Team Shootout.
Former Terrapins Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Kristi Toliver are among past competitors.
This season, Confroy led Big Ten and was No. 8 in the NCAA in three-point field goal percentage (.450). She averaged 9.5 points with 5.1 rebounds per game as she helped the Terrapins to a record of 26-8, 12-4 in league play and their eighth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
She is No. 2 in the Maryland history books in career threes made with 217 and No. 3 in program history in career three-point field goal percentage (.405).
Confroy earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors and the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for the second straight year.
